The Best Walking

Tetsugakunomichi  Okazaki  Kyoto Japan

“Tetsugaku no michi” What a wonderful name of promenade. It means the way of philosophy. This name was given because there are many literary and philosophers near Kyoto University. No other beautiful name is as simple and romantic as it is. It is 1.5km from Wakaoji Bridge, where Eikando is located, to Ginkakuji Bridge, where Ginkakuji Temple is located. The promenade along the quiet waterways is especially beautiful during the fresh green season. Visit all of Kyoto’s leading temples on the east side of this road, without choosing one. If possible, walk slowly and enjoy the beauty.

Kyoto Temple

Nanzenji is the most prestigious of all Zen Buddhist temples in Japan. The beautiful gardens of the four seasons are also wonderful. The main gate “Sanmon” is famous view from the top and for the Japanese Kabuki word “superb view”. The feature of Hojo Garden is that it is laid out with huge stones lying down. And if you go further in the precincts, you will find the famous Suirokaku, where many movies and dramas were shot.

“Maple Eikando” One of the most famous spots for autumn leaves in Kyoto. The beauty of more than 3000 maples is not only in autumn when it turns red, but also in spring when it turns green. When you go up the corridor “Garyu-rou” designed along the slope of Higashiyama, you will see a green maple in front of you, which is the highlight. And “Mikaeri Amida Nyorai” is a place to meditate and think about own life.

Kyoto Temple

Walk up the hill from the 「Tetsugaku no Michi」promenade. Proceeding through the thatched-roof mountain gate, there is a world of silence. Many people visit camellia in spring and colored leaves in autumn, but other than that, it is a quiet and beautiful place. The auditorium is a gallery where special exhibitions are held at any time, so check the website.

Contrast the beauty of Kyoto. The gorgeous beauty of Kinkakuji is aristocratic culture. The sophisticated beauty of Ginkakuji is samurai culture. Kinkakuji is called the sun and Ginkakuji is called the moon. The difference in beauty is a highlight for guests from overseas. The unique sand-piles “Kogetsudai” and “Ginsyadan” and the view from the top of the mountain in the strolling garden are wonderful.

Kyoto Shop

A select shop with a focus on Japanese essence lifestyle items. It is a sophisticated Japanese item, not an old traditional Japanese item. There is also a cafe and drinks and sweets are popular.
